COLLABORATION

As an independent musician,

I frequently utilize discipline and creative writing skills. However, my individual songwriting is just one piece of the puzzle! I’ve developed indispensable skills from collaborating with other artists, working with producers, rehearsing with band members, and coordinating with booking agents and venue directors. These areas of collaboration require me to be open-minded, assertive, diligent, quick-thinking, patient, and committed. An additional aspect of being an independent artist is self promotion, which I do through social media platforms such as Instagram, Tik Tok, and Facebook.

As a volunteer leader

for Young Life at Middle Creek High School, I have spent much time over the past 3 years collaborating with my team to plan weekly events and camp trips. The planning process consists of finding a time and date that works for everyone while considering the kids’ schedules, reaching out to kids to find a house that can host, brainstorming ideas for a theme, delegating roles for and coming up with games, skits, songs, and slide-creation, etc. On the day of events, it’s essential for our team to coordinate with each other on supplies (projector, speaker, costumes, prizes, food/drink if needed, etc.), transportation (making sure kids have rides and allotting extra time/space in cars to pick them up), and promotion (posts on Instagram, outreach through texts, occasionally passing out fliers at the school). At events, we must be on at all times, quick on our feet, comfortable talking to big groups of people as well as building relationships one-on-one, and especially be attentive listeners to each kid.
